The contents of this book first appeared as a series of weekly articles published in the Cape Times and consists of 52 essays, all dealing with common creatures that my be found in the garden and on the veld in most parts of South Africa. They are arranged according to the season they are mostly found in.  The illustrations are all from original photos taken by the author.
