South African Police Pattern 1907 Parkerized Bayonet With Scabbard.
The pattern 1907 bayonet for use with the Short Magazine Lee Enfield (SMLE) rifle was the mainstay of the Commonwealth and Allied forces during WW1 and WW2. After the Second World War a number of these bayonets were incorporated into the South African Police. This is a particularly handsome example with all metal parts of both bayonet and scabbard having been parkerized ( a method similar to bluing to protect steel surfaces from corrosion and increasing it's resistance to wear). The bayonet is in overall good condition with functioning locking button and is accompanied by it's steel-capped leather scabbard. Please see images above for more detail.
