On 1 April 1988 the SA Police celebrated its 75th year of existence. To commemorate this occasion, this medal was instituted and awarded to members of the Police Force who:
(a) were serving members of the Force, in a permanent capacity, on 1 April 1988
(b) were serving members of the Force, in a temporary capacity, on 1 April 1988
(c) have rendered service of a particularly meritorious nature to the SA Police.
The obverse of this award contains in relief, the figures '75', surmounted with an aloe with three racemes. Above the aloe is a circumscription of the police motto 'SERVAMUS ET SERVIMUS' in capitals. Below the figures '75' the dates '1913-1988' appear. The reverse design contains in relief the official badge of the SA Police. All awards were issued named and were engraved on the reverse with the serial number, rank and name of the recipient. This specific medal was awarded to Constable B.C. Rudolph - 238715P.
