Geographers and geologists alike should welcome this vivid presentation of the topographic environment of widely uniform or highly diversified regions, wherein different phases of primitive and modern human activities call for consideration, and the clarity with which the evolution of such topographies are related to geological structure, crust movements, and the varying erosional processes. A very readable textbook that deals almost wholly with the geomorphology of South Africa.

The variety of land forms that are described, the excellent discussion of physiographic processes, and the many fine illustrations should make this book a fine reference work for any part of the world.
