-This is a bronze cap badge from the South African Special Service Battalion (SSB), specifically used between 1934 and 1963.
5cm x 4cm
Design: Features a Protea flower above a ribbon with the motto "EENDRAG MAAK MAG" (Unity is Strength). Initials: The badge bears the initials "S.S.B." and "S.D.B.", referring to the English and Afrikaans names of the unit. History: The battalion was formed in 1933 to provide training and employment for young men during the Great Depression and later served as an armoured car unit during World War II. Significance: This collectible item represents a storied tradition of service in the South African military.
