Original WWII-era South African Tank Corps badge featuring bronzed metal finish with SATC/SATK scrolls.
This item is a South African Tank Corps (SATC / SATK) cap or beret badge from the early World War II period.
The badge comes from the Union of South Africa and was the official insignia of the Suid-Afrikaanse Tenkkorps, used only for a short period between May 1940 and September 1941. After this date, units were reorganised and transitioned to the Protea badge of the Special Service Battalion.
The design is a bronzed or brass metal pattern featuring the letters S.A.T.C. on the left scroll and S.A.T.K. on the right scroll. It was worn as both a cap badge and, in some cases, as a collar badge on formal uniforms.
