4th South African Infantry, late 10th Infantry.

 

 

A complete group to a man determined to do his duty, including a rare cardboard, on ribbon, Victory Celebrations "Badge of Honour" dated Johannesburg, Dec. 11th 1918.

  • Attested as Private (no. 37) 10th Infantry - 28th August 1914. Campaign G.S.W.A.
  • Re-attested as Private (no.254) Heildelberg Commando - 12 January 1915. Campaign G.S.W.A.
  • Re-attested as Private (no. 6367) 9th S.A. Infantry - 14 December 1915. Campaign G.E.A.
  • Re-attested as Private (no.2512) 2nd S.A. Horse - 1st March 1916. Campaign G.E.A
  • Discharged 29 November 1916 on demobilisation: Character described as Very Good
  • Re-attested as Private (no.11367) 1st S.A.I - 4th February 1917. Campaign in France.
  • Wounded in Action G.S.W. left leg on 13th November 1917.
  • Discharged, Permanently Unfit for further War Service, character described as Very Good, - 15th February 1919.
