Description

Original 500 South Sudanese Pounds banknote issued by the Bank of South Sudan in 2018.
The obverse features a portrait of Dr. John Garang de Mabior, founding father of South Sudan, with denomination numerals and official signatures.
The reverse depicts a scenic river landscape symbolising the Nile basin.

This example shows circulation wear, including multiple folds, overall creasing, softened corners and general handling marks. No pieces missing and design details remain clear, making it a solid mid-grade collectible example.

A desirable modern African banknote, especially popular among world banknote collectors focusing on new nations and short-lived currency issues.

Condition Notes

  • Circulation folds and creases

  • No tears or tape

  • Colours intact but slightly muted from use

  • Overall eye appeal still acceptable for a circulated note
