Map of The South West Part of Africa by Herman Moll, Geographer.: Original Hand painted Watercolour on Parchment. Herman Moll, of Dutch origin, moved to England by 1678. According to Robert Hooke's Diary he was working in association with Moses Pitt at that time. He also engraved maps for Greenvile Collins (1686-9), John Adair and Seller and Price in 1703. He engraved two maps, America and Europe for Moore's Geography in 1681. But it was in the 18th century that he made his mark, becoming in the second two decades the foremost map publisher in England.
