Peter and Beverly Pickford have captured the essence of each of the regions 81 species, many of which are rare and infrequently seen by anyone other than the most dedicated or fortunate raptorphile. The photographs are augmented by Warwick Tarbotons intelligent and very readable text.

Separate chapters dedicated to the secretarybird; vultures; kites and allied species; eagles; buzzards; sparrowhawks and goshawks; harriers and allied species; the osprey; falcons and kestrels; and owls. With common names, scientific names, and Afrikaans/English common names.

This is the 1990 second impression of the first edition of 1989, published by Struik Publishers. An excellent copy with a near pristine dust cover, clean pages and quality printing on glossy paper.
