SOUTHERN RHODESIA; NORTHERN RHODESIA; NYASALAND:
Southern Rhodesia was a self-governing British Crown colony in Southern Africa, established in 1923. It existed as a territory south of the Zambezi River and north of the Limpopo River. Prior to 1923, Southern Rhodesia was under the administration of the British South Africa Company, which had been granted a Royal Charter in 1889.
The British South Africa Company (BSAC), founded by Cecil Rhodes was granted a charter by the British Crown in 1889 to administer and develop territories in south-central Africa. It primarily focused on acquiring land and mineral rights, establishing infrastructure like the Rhodesian railway system, and administering what became Southern and Northern Rhodesia.
South Rhodesia gained self-governing status in 1923 after a referendum which saw the white settler population vote for self-governance rather than joining the Union of South Africa.
Southern Rhodesia later formed part of the Federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland (1953-1963) with Northern Rhodesia (now Zambia) and Nyasaland (now Malawi). The federation was formed to foster closer political and economic ties between these territories - it aimed to utilize resources like copper in Northern Rhodesia and exploit labor in Nyasaland, while also creating a larger market.  Following the dissolution of the Federation, Northern Rhodesia became Zambia, Nyasaland became Malawi, and Southern Rhodesia declared itself Rhodesia. Southern Rhodesia, then simply known as Rhodesia, unilaterally declared independence in 1965, which however was not recognized internationally. The country eventually achieved internationally recognized independence in 1980 as Zimbabwe.

George V was King of the United Kingdom and the British Dominions, and Emperor of India, from 6 May 1910 until his death in 1936. George was born during the reign of his paternal grandmother, Queen Victoria, as the second son of the Prince and Princess of Wales.

George VI was King of the United Kingdom and the Dominions of the British Commonwealth from 11 December 1936 until his death in 1952. He was also the last Emperor of India from 1936 until the British Raj was dissolved in August 1947, and the first Head of the Commonwealth following the London Declaration of 1949.

PRE-DECIMAL SYSTEM IN BRITAIN:
After the Norman Conquest in 1066 King Henry II (5 March 1133 6 July 1189) of England introduced a new system of coinage in which the pound was divided into twenty shillings or 240 pennies.
It was based on the troy system of weighing precious metals. The penny was literally one pennyweight of silver. A pound sterling thus weighed 240 pennyweights, or a pound of sterling silver.
It remained so until decimalization on 15 February 1971, when the pound was divided up in 100 UNITS as it is still done today.

PENNIES AND POUNDS BEFORE 1971:
Before decimalization on 15 February 1971, there were twenty (20) shillings per pound.
The shilling was subdivided into twelve (12) pennies.
The penny was further sub-divided into two halfpennies or four farthings (quarter pennies).
2 farthings (1/4 pence) = 1 halfpenny
2 halfpence = 1 penny (1d)
3 pence = 1 thruppence (3d)
6 pence = 1 sixpence (a 'tanner') (6d)
12 pence = 1 shilling (a bob) (1s)
2 shillings = 1 florin ( a 'two bob bit') (2s)
2 shillings and 6 pence = 1 half crown (2s 6d)
5 shillings = 1 Crown (5s)
