Spanish Netherlands (Brabant) Ducaton 1689 (Very Rare)

Stack's Bowers Galleries in New York reports that there is only one of these coins (KM # 106.2 dated 1689) in the PCGS census population report. (There is none in the NGC census). The PCGS specimen was sold by Stacks for 3 200 USD plus 17.5% buyer's tax (well over R50 000).

What makes our coin special is that it is clearly a shipwrecked coin, and it is speculated that it came from the
Meeresteijn shipwreck. The last figure in the date is a "9," and the year 1689 is the only date of this very rare series of King Charles II of Spain that ends with that. When this coin is certified by NGC, it would be a so-called TOP POP stand-alone coin.

(The coin at the bottom of the two pictured is the PCGS coin, and the top coin is the shipwreck one you are bidding on.
