Sparaxis elegans Seeds
South African Indigenous Perennial Flowering Bulb
Sparaxis is a genus in the Iridaceae family that is endemic to South Africa and found mostly in the southwestern Cape and the western Karoo. Sparaxis elegans grows 9-20cm in height. During spring it produces beautiful salmon flowers with a purple cup edged in black and yellow and coiled purple anthers. Sparaxis is a winter-growing, summer-dormant genus. For this reason, plant the seeds or corms in autumn between late March and early June. Sparaxis is recommended for cultivation in both gardens and containers.
