THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL 5.0CT (1.0G PLEASE SEE PHOTO MULTIPLY WEIGHT BY 5 TO GET CARATS) WHITE CUBIC ZIRCONIUM GEMSTONE WITH A ROUND BRILLIANT CUT. A BEAUTIFUL GEMSTONE. PLEASE SEE PHOTOS. IT IS ALSO THE LAST CUBIC ZIRCONIUMS IN THIS GEMSTONE COLLECTION.
 
A Brilliant Cut is a cutting of a round diamond consisting of 58 facets with 33 on the crown (above the girdle) and 25 on the pavilion (below the girdle), that all radiate out from a center point to the girdle edge. It is known for having a sparkling affect on a gemstone.
 
THIS PARTICULAR STONE WAS BOUGHT ONLINE IN 2011 FROM A SELLER IN VEREENIGING WITH THE ORIGEN NOT INDICATED. IT HAS A VVS (EYE CLEAR) CLARITY WHICH MEANS NO INCLUSIONS CAN BE SEEN WITH THE NAKED EYE. IT WAS ALSO SOLD AS A CUBIC ZIRCONIUM WHICH IS BY DEFINITION LABORATORY MADE.

MY PERSONAL CONCLUSION REGARDING THIS GEMSTONE:
CUBIC ZIRCONA IS A THERMAL INSULATOR AND DOES NOT MOVE A DIAMOND TESTER AT ALL. I TESTED THIS GEMSTONE AND IT DID NOT MOVE MY MIZAR TESTER.
A cubic zirconia is often entirely colorless: equivalent to a perfect "D" on diamond's color grading scale. Other colors of cubic zirconia can be produced however including  yellow, pink, purple, green, and even multicolored.
MY CONCLUSION:  IT IS A CUBIC ZIRCONIUM GEMSTONE

CUBIC ZIRCONA:
Cubic zirconia is a man-made material used to imitate diamond commonly referred to as CZ. Cubic Zirconia has a thermal insulating property while diamond is a very efficient thermal conductor. It is therefore easy to separate diamonds from CZ with a simple thermal conductivity test like that found in most diamond testers. Cubic Zirconia will not move a diamond tester at all.
Labgrown diamonds and mined diamonds have the exact same physical properties. A cubic zirconia however is not a diamond. It is merely a diamond simulant, meaning that it looks similar but not exactly like a diamond. In fact, a cubic zirconia contains zero carbon, whereas diamonds (mined and grown) are made entirely from carbon.
 
CUBIC ZIRCONIA VERSUS DIAMONDS:
Originally, the value of a diamond was set by its sparkling beauty. As synthetic gemstones started to appear that was often flawless and more beautiful the clever mining conglomerates started to advertise that the desirability of a natural diamond lies merely in the fact that it is exspensive. They could not even argue that natural diamonds are rare since its mined all over the world and there are many rarer gemstones like rubies, spiels, sapphires etc out there.
Why wouldnt you want a stone that was more beautiful than a diamond? The common reason is that cubic zirconia is cheap. Give someone an engagement ring of cubic zirconia and you are not demonstrating your willingness to be extravagant for your love. Diamonds are valued because of their cost.
These days, manufacturing of artificial diamonds has also advanced, and you can buy a real (but manufactured) diamond for under half the price of a natural diamond. So jewelers started to look for the tiny flaws and imperfections that characterize a natural diamond. To me this is totally ridiculous. Again, it indicates that the value of a diamond is no longer in its beauty. And diamonds supposed rarity is kept high by the diamond merchants who severely restrict the market.
