250 Air Defence Artillery Group (250 ADAG) was formed as 250 Air Defence Unit (250 ADU) [Afr: 250 Lugverdediging seenheid] on 1 December 1973 and moved to Pienaarsrivier (now Ditholo), north of Pretoria, in 1977. Squadrons were deployed to Grootfontein, Rundu and Ondangwa during the Border War. 250 ADAG consisted of 120, 121, 123, 124, 125, 126, 127, 128, 129 Squadrons, which operated CACTUS, HILDA and ZU-23 systems. The Group was disbanded in 1993 when the function was transferred to the SA Army Air Defence Artillery Formation.
