These badges come in a variety of metal and backgrounds, but only the chrome on chilli red/red enamel backgrounds are the original. This badge is an Army qualification and therefore they are the only authorised issuing body. The Navy, Air Force and Medical Services never ran their own courses. Heraldic has approved this badge for the Army alone. The SAPS Special Task force have their own sniper course, but their is no approved proficiency badge for the course.
