PSone gamers have been eagerly awaiting the return of the webbed superhero. And while Spider-Man 2: Enter Electro is a game with problems, it's still good fun for wannabe superheroes. The plot sees you attempting to save New York from the hands of Electro, whose voltage is higher than ever with a bad attitude to match; to save the day, you've got to explore, swing across the skyline, jump from rooftop to rooftop and take out the bad guys. But be prepared for a challenge--this is a hard game, sometimes frustratingly so, and, compounded by tetchy controls, it's going to take some getting used to.
Yet for those who make the effort, it is good fun to play. The training mode and the first level offer help in breaking in the less experienced player, and once you get going, it's hard not to get into the swing of things. There are various boss characters to take out (a job you can make easier by fully utilising the versatility of those spider's webs you fire) and their henchmen can invariably be disposed of with the enhanced kick and punch combos.
Ultimately, a perfect Spider-Man game this is not, and for the inevitable third Spidey adventure, there's certainly work to be done. But take this for what it is--a flawed but enjoyable action game--and chances are you'll enjoy it more than you expect to. --Simon Brew
