The Spider-Man: Web of Shadows Wii editionis a third-person, open-world action-adventure game in which the player controls Spider-Man as he battles a city-wide symbiote invasion in New York. A key gameplay mechanic is the ability to switch instantly between the agile red-and-blue suit and the more powerful, savage black symbiote suit.

• Dual-Suit Mechanics: Players can change suits at any time to execute different attacks and combos. The red suit emphasizes speed and agility, while the black suit offers brute strength and more impactful moves.
• Dynamic Combat: The game features an extensive combat system, allowing players to fight enemies on the ground, walls, and in the air. A signature "web strike" move pulls Spider-Man towards an enemy to deal damage.
• Open World and Exploration: The game is set in an open-world Manhattan, where players can web-swing, wall-crawl, and web-zip between buildings. The city is alive with random events like gang fights and civilian rescues, which reward experience points for upgrades.
• Morality System: Player actions and decisions throughout the story determine a morality standing, affecting how citizens and other Marvel characters (including Luke Cage and the Vulture) react to Spider-Man and who will aid him in the fight.
• Wii Controls: The Wii version utilizes the Wii Remote and Nunchuk, with some attacks and movements requiring motion controls (e.g., flicking the remote to start swinging up a wall or perform a move), though these controls could be inconsistent at times.
