SPINACH SWISS CHARD - FORDHOOK GIANT

An upright cultivar with crumpled dark green leaves and a broad leaf stalk.

 Give a little love, with compost, manure and regular watering, the plants will reward you with plenty of fresh crisp greens throughout the year under most condition in South Africa. 

This lovely vegetable can be grown in Autumn, Winter and Spring.  It will need some protection from the summer heat, but plant a few seeds every month to 2 months, and you can have fantastic green vegetable year round.  During Winter, when the frost is rather harsh, ensure a good layer of mulch to protect the roots.
