Unique photo of the 1949 Springbok place-kicking hero,Okey Geffin, keeping an eye on the technique of Wallaby kicker Herb Barker in Johannesburg during Australia's tour of South Africa in 1953. Geffin kicked 32 points during the 1949series, an international record at the time. Herb Barker was a very talented sportsman who played basketball for NSW from 1946 until 1956 and represented Australia as hammer thrower at the 1950 British Empire Games, winning a bronze medal. He made his first grade debut as a centre with Randwick District RugbyUnion Football Club in 1952 and soon went into the NSW and Australian sides. Photo size 15 x 20 cm.
