Signed by Springbok Douglas Hopwood (1934-2002)

Springbok 1960 to 1965

Rare Signature as same rarely signed...so sought after in the collectors market. Signed in the Great Rugby Players Book. Hardcover First Edition 1980.We are primarily selling the Signature as the Value Collectors item.He appears on page 67 of the book as one of the Greats.

Due to rarity we value the signature at 600 Rands on the UK sports auction market.

A back-row forward, Hopwood represented the  in 22 Test matches from 1960 to 1965. He received plaudits for his role in South Africa's , where the Springboks achieved the grand slam by beating the four home nations, in particular for his performance in torrential conditions against Wales.

Hopwood had the distinction of captaining Western Province late in his career and would have been captain of the Springboks for the , only for the selector's choice to be vetoed by the board.

Following his career, Hopwood worked for South African Breweries. He was married with three children.
