This Stanley No. 8 is made in the USA and is in good condition given its age.
Note that the screw hole in the lever cap is vertical (not kidney shaped). This, coupled with an analysis of the Stanley Type flowchart, indicates that it is likely this is a Type 15 (1931 - 1932).
The plane has been cleaned a bit and it has a good patina on it. The base and sides are flat and there is an engraving of initials on each side between the tote and the frog - the initials are TJD. The initials and surname are also stamped at the top of the front knob (albeit faintly).
To be noted is that the blade (or cutter) is made by Falcon of Australia.
Please see photos for overview of condition.
Note to overseas buyers: Price excludes overseas postage. I am prepared to quote for postage costs, and insurance if required, which will be at cost.
LOCAL SHIPPING: Most convenient to me is PostNet to PostNet. If you want alternative shipping the cost will depend on a quoted price. If buying more than 1 item, the combined parcel size and weight could impact shipping cost. If this results in a cost that exceeds the R100 indicated for small to medium packages then the cost will be adjusted to the actual shipping charge. Also, where a packages size and/or weight pushes the actual cost beyond R100, the rate will be adjusted accordingly.
