Stapelia hirsuta ssp. tsomoensis
Large Stapelia with robust stems of up to 25cm. in length. form large clumps and is quite a strong grower.
It grows naturally in the former Transkei region of South Africa, but has become rather rare due to agriculture and urban expansions.
Its also used as a muti plant which is not helping its conservation status.
Flowers appear from February till May (autumn in the Southern Hamisphere) and the plants in my garden set seed regularly.
The stems of this species are far less hairy then most other Stapelas and feel quite smooth.
Plants offered are seedlings of about 10cm. in lenght, well rooted and already forming side-branches
