Synopsis In modern-day Egypt, a brilliant but ostracized Egyptologist named Dr. Daniel Jackson is recruited by the military to decode hieroglyphics on a mysterious ancient artifact. His work unlocks the secret of the Stargate an interstellar teleportation device that opens a wormhole to a distant planet inhabited by a civilization resembling ancient Egypt, enslaved by a powerful being who poses as the god Ra. Jackson teams up with Colonel Jack O'Neil and a military unit to travel through the Stargate and must help the planet's people rise up against their oppressor in an epic battle for freedom, while racing to prevent a catastrophic attack on Earth.
