Join us for a unique evening of Stargazing coupled with fine dining. Here we offer you the Observatory Restaurant, which is situated in the Cradle of Humankind, a World Heritage Site.

The Observatory consists of two telescopes the larger is the only and largest privately owned telescope in South Africa as well as the largest professional telescope in amateur hands within the Southern Hemisphere. The smaller is very powerful for deep-sky photography of very faint and distant objects. It is used for Comet hunting as well as for Supernova searches.

Participants will be given the chance to make use of both telescopes and called to look through the larger telescope usually on a table-by-table basis, before and during the various courses of food ordered in the restaurant.

The smaller telescope is used during and after desserts to look at objects that are too faint to be seen with the larger telescope and the human eye. The images are projected onto a screen in the restaurant. A short Comet hunt and/or Supernova hunt add to the excitement of the evening. There is a resident astronomer who will be your very own "Tour guide of the Night Sky".

This experience includes a credit value of R300 for dinner (2 x 3 course A la Carte), astronomy experience for 2 people, a booking fee and stunning online gift pack. A 10% gratuity will be added to the Food/Bar bill. Any amount over and above R300 will be for the clients’ your own account.
