Starrett Machinists Levels have ground and graduated main vials The base of the levels feature an involute groove running the length of the base providing a reliable seat for round work. To guarantee accuracy, the length of your level should not be longer than the work you are leveling.

Features a ground and graduated main vial.  Main vials are adjustable for positive setting and housed in brass tube with friction fit closing cover to prevent breakage. Level bases are seasoned castings with black wrinkle finish, accurately machined and finished on bearing surface. An involute longitudinal groove between bearing flats provides accurate seating on round work Note: Ground vials are approximately 4 times more sensitive to movement than plain vials.
