The Mangler is a 1995 supernatural horror film directed by Tobe Hoope. At Gartleys Blue Ribbon Laundry Service, a massive, antique industrial folding and pressing machine (the "mangler") becomes possessed by a demonic entity after an accidental mix of blood and specific chemical ingredients. The machine develops a thirst for human blood, grabbing workers and crushing them into a bloody pulp. Detective John Hunton (played by Ted Levine) investigates the gruesome workplace "accidents" alongside his demonologist brother-in-law. They discover that the laundry's sinister owner, Bill Gartley (played by Robert Englund), and the town have protected a generations-old pact and secret tied to the evil machine. Hunton races against time to stop the beast before it claims more lives.
