ON AUCTION IS A STERLING SILVER BANGLE. IT IS MARKED 925 AND WEIGHS 16.97G. IT HAS A BEAUTIFUL CELTIC KNOT DESIGN IN TWO BANDS SEPERATED BY A WIDENING CENTRAL VOID. Celtic designs, characterized by intricate knotwork and spirals has a rich history rooted in the Iron Age Celts of Europe and flourished in the British Isles and Ireland during the early medieval period. These designs, initially found in metalwork and stone carvings, later became prominent in medieval manuscripts.
The Celts, inhabiting Europe during the Iron Age, developed distinctive artistic styles evident in metalwork, jewelry, and stone carvings. From the 4th and 5th centuries onwards, Celtic style, also known as Insular art, emerged in the British Isles and Ireland, reaching its peak between the 7th and 11th centuries.
The Intertwined lines with no beginning or end, symbolizes eternity, interconnectedness, and spiritual paths. Celtic knots and spirals often symbolize the endless cycle of life, death, and rebirth. Celtic designs were infused with spiritual meanings, reflecting the Celts' beliefs about the natural world, the afterlife, and the interconnectedness of all things.
Celtic design is closely associated with Irish, Scottish, and Welsh culture, representing their unique heritage and artistic traditions. There have been attempts to revive Celtic art and design in modern times, with a renewed appreciation for its symbolism and aesthetics. Celtic designs continue to be used in jewelry, tattoos, clothing, and various decorative arts, reflecting their enduring appeal.
