Item Overview: Up for auction is a beautiful, substantial sterling silver hinged bangle featuring a classic hand-engraved floral and foliate "bright-cut" pattern. This is a solid, mid-century piece with a heavy weight and excellent structural integrity.
Key Features & Hallmarks:
Maker: Stamped "S&P" for the renowned Birmingham firm Smith & Pepper. Their factory is now the famous "Museum of the Jewellery Quarter."
Origin: Assayed in Birmingham, England (Anchor mark).
Purity: Full British hallmarks including the Lion Passant, guaranteeing .925 Sterling Silver.
Date: Hallmarked with the lowercase "n" for 1962.
Design: Intricate hand-engraved front with a polished back. Features a secure tongue-and-groove clasp and a safety chain for added security.
Specifications:
Weight: +/- 25 grams
Condition: Excellent vintage condition. The engraving remains crisp and deep. The hinge is tight and the clasp clicks shut firmly. Only the safety chain has one broken link, and a couple of small dents on the side. The bangle is oval shaped.
