CHRYSOPRASE:
Chrysoprase is a variety of quartz colored by nickel impurities. Historically valued by the Greeks, Romans, and Egyptians, it was sometimes mistaken for emeralds. It is considered a rare and valuable variety of chalcedony (a form of quartz), though it is still relatively affordable. The finest quality chrysoprase is often mined in Australia, but deposits are also found in countries like Tanzania, Brazil, and Poland. These rings are durable enough for everyday wear due to chrysoprase's hardness of 6.0 to 7.0 on the Mohs scale. Rings can feature the stone in various cuts, such as cabochons or faceted gems, and are available in different metal settings, like sterling silver or gold.
