Stetsonia coryne or The Toothpick Cactus as it is commonly known is the sole species of its genus, Stetsonia. The plant originates from the low northwest deserts of Argentina and Bolivia. Like the Peyote, San Pedro and Peruvian Torch cacti, Stetsonia also contains mescaline, a powerful psychedelic alkaloid of the phenethylamine class. Stetsonia coryne grows to a height of 2.4-10 m tall. It has white blossoms in spring or summer and is hardy to -8°C. It enjoys full sun. Above is a photo of one of the actual plants which are in 7.5cm pots. Plants are sent without pots and soil free. We'll remove the plants from the soil as it not only increases postage but also makes the parcel unstable. |
