STRIKING ARTISAN CRAFTED MURANO GLASS
BLUE 'EVIL EYE' GOOD LUCK PENDANT

The total hanging length is 275mm, the coloured 'beads' are
10mm wide and are linked by pewter caps. The disc itself is 53mm
in diameter and is flattened at the back.

This is not a necklace, it has no join between the links;
it is an ornament.

If you've ever seen a person of Greek or Turkish origin sporting a circular glass charm that
shows a curious blue eye, then you've seen the classic Greek evil eye symbol - the Matiasma.
In Turkey it is called the Nazar or Nazar Boncugu.

The idea is that the gaze of someone who harbours feelings of envy or jealousy
can bring misfortune upon the one who is seen - the one who "gets the evil eye".

This eye's main purpose isn't really an aesthetic one, but rather to serve the function
of warding off the effects of the evil eye. Often worn as jewellery or kept
in their residence, workplace or vehicle.
