VINTAGE OVAL SAPPHIRE AND DIAMOND 18CT YELLOW AND WHITE GOLD RING 

This elegant English vintage piece is beautifully crafted in 18ct yellow and white gold. It features a single 5,75 mm x 4,6 mm oval faceted deep blue sapphire set with extra long yellow gold claws, which makes a design feature of them. Framing the sapphire is a row of eight single-cut diamonds, claw set in white gold that presents with an interesting, design finish. A narrow 18ct yellow gold shank holds an openwork oval underneath the white gold of the ring head, narrowing as it reaches the 11,2 mm long x 8,3mm wide ring head. The piece weighs a good 3,67 grams and bears many hallmarks, including 18 for 18ct gold, the Birmingham Assay mark, the jeweller's signature and the date mark for 1968. The sapphire looks different depending on the light. Observing it straight on, it is a very dense dark, almost black, blue but as the photographs show, it has a bright blue quality in certain other lights. Please note the fairly small ring size.
