Strophanthus is a genus of 35-40 species of flowering plants in the family Apocynaceae, native mainly to tropical Africa, extending to South Africa, with a few species in Asia, from southern India to the Philippines and southern China.
Growing up to 2m this slender climber features attractive bark with a reddish brown colour and raised white bumps. Pale silvery leaves and single flowers with pink tubes and yellow petals dominate this very attractive creeper. The 2 lobed fruits are used in traditional medicine and are thought to be a charm to ensure good crops in local customs. Sow in Spring.
