Some Reminiscences of a Portrait Painter. With a preliminary Sketch by Anthony R. Delius.

First Edition. Published by Tafelberg-Uitgewers, 1963.

Hardcover with Dust Jacket. 182 pp. With black & white plates. (Portraits of Churchill, Smuts, Montgomery and others)

Boards have a mottled, dusty appearance. Very light ding to back cover. Otherwise intact in terms of shelf-wear or abbrasion. no edgewear. Spine intact, author name and title bright and crisp. Corners sharp. No foxing on edge of text block.

Heavy darkening of endpapers, foxed. Heavy foxing especially verso front- and recto rear free endpapers. Foxing around borders of title page. Thereafter foxing mostly limited to borders of the plates as well as margins of all pages opposing plates.

Owner's name inscribed in pencil, top of front free endpaper.

No underlining, no highlighting, no annotations or marginalia.

Dust Jacket Condition. Good. All in one piece with no major tears or creases--but shelf-rubbed and handled. A few random marks--a white paint stamp on front cover, short charcoal stroke on the back. Damage otherwise limited to top and lower edges--especially head and heel of jacket spine and hinges: scuffed with small chips and tears; a larger tear starting at the hinge of rear flap. Foxing and rubbing on inside of jacket. Foxing on front and rear flaps. Top edge of jacket has a somewhat soiled or dusty appearance--General J.C Smuts depicted on the cover looking rather spruce by comparison, of course.
