The Bakhtiari tribe are one of the oldest and most famous tribes in Iran. Their villages are situated to the south-east of Isfahan and have been weaving rugs for export since the early 19th century. Almost Antique Bahktiari rug Based on a cotton foundation these carpets are generally crafted using the wool taken from the tribe’s own herd, therefore the quality and sheen can differ from carpet to carpet depending on the village of origin. As with most tribal rugs it is difficult to find large examples, Knot density can vary from quite coarse to medium-fine.
