HACKING, THOMAS
Born in Lancashire England in 1932.
At the age of thirteen he won the art competition for the North of England, organized by the J. Arthur Rank Organization. This led to him later attending and Art School in England, where he passed his county.
Thomas immigrated to South Africa in the early fifties where he developed a great love for the African landscape and wildlife in its natural habitat.
Ian Smith, the Rhodesian Prime Minister (now Zimbabwe), the Orange Free State Administration and various other societies have commissioned his art work.
His works have been exhibited in the United States of America - in the cities of Portland and Washington DC. Exhibitions have been held throughout Europe, Australia and Zimbabwe.
Although Thomas Hacking's wildlife has become the most dominant and sought after, his works of art cover a wide variety of subjects.
