Artist Biography:
Freda was born in Welkom in 1954. She is one of the most prolific painters of our time and enjoys great success in her art career. From the time she started painting at the age of 26 she has rapidly become a very popular artist. Freda has spent only a short time under formal training and obtained her diploma at the Paris ABC School of Art in Cape Town in 1990 with distinction (the first student who achieved this since the opening of the school). In 1994 she became a professional artist after having a very successful exhibition at Okahandja in Namibia. Between 1990 and 1994 she had fifteen solo exhibitions throughout South Africa and Namibia Her artistic career and ability is growing rapidly. Freda’s work is mainly influenced by the techniques of the old Masters, especially that of Rubens and Rembrandt. Frieda’s paintings can be seen in private collections throughout South Africa and Namibia. Collectors include the First National Bank in Namibia, Eskom headquarters in Gauteng and the Parliament Building in Cape Town. A very famous British artist, George Willis Pryce was constantly drawn to the Wales he adored, concentrating largely on landscapes. Of course, although inclined to favour his own country, he frequently crossed the border to London and Guildford, where he often exhibited his prestigious paintings. Pryce has sold at a number of leading auction houses and some of his work has fetched four figures in Pounds. Willis was equally at home with mixed media and this fine oil is a serious statement by Pryce the painter, to demonstrate his artistic dexterity.
