Beautiful example of how the first clocks looked like and worked around the 16th century.
Full wooden frame and gear mechanism. The clock is not only a full functioning timepiece but also an interesting & stunning decor item!
This timepiece has the same mechanical system, and are built with the same materials and the same techniques that were used during the medieval period. Wedges or wedge have been used to fix the frame, and there are no screws.
Naturally, the face of this clock has only one hand; the minute hand was to appear with the pendulum clock, in the eighteenth century.
Regulation is carried out by the “foliot” which is a stick with small counter-weights on its sides that can be regulated.
The closer you position the counter-weights symmetrically towards the escapement axle, the faster the clock works, and vice versa.
