The gem has been heat/pressure treated to bake a coating up to 1mm into the surface of the gem,

this coating is extremely hard wearing and should last a lifetime.

With a hardness of 8, topaz makes hard wearing jewelry.

The gem measures 8.1 x 5.4 mm and is internally flawless with no visible damage to any of the facets.

It comes from Brazil.
