This well-preserved Scyphocrinites elegans crinoid plate hails from the Silurian period, over 420 million years ago. Rooted to the seafloor and equipped with feeding arms for filtering food, crinoids have thrived since the Ordovician period and still exist today. Unearthed near Erfoud, Morocco, these fossils are retrieved using traditional methods, with each slab meticulously hauled to the surface, reassembled, and prepared by hand. This 6.5x4.7" fossil plate is a remarkable window into Earth's prehistoric oceans.
