ON AUCTION IS A 1980S SUGAR BRITCHES BOOTS TYNER DESIGNED SLEEPING DOLL.
 
Boots Tyner was a doll artist known for creating and selling molds for her dolls, particularly the popular "Sugar Britches" in the 1980s, rather than focusing on mass production. She offered patterns for her dolls, including the "Sugar Britches" doll, and even provided the molds to female prison inmates so they could reproduce the dolls. Tyner's work became popular in the doll-making community during a time when ceramic doll businesses were thriving. She passed away in 2014. 
 
"Sugar Britches" was Tyner's most famous line of dolls, known for its distinctive design and popularity in the 1980s. Rather than solely producing and selling finished dolls, Tyner sold molds, enabling others to create their own versions. Tyner initially created dolls as a way to fund her hobby of collecting antique and collectible dolls, not as a large-scale business. She ran her doll-related business from home while raising her three young children. Her work is considered a part of the history of doll-making in the 1980s.
