Add about 1/2 - 2/3 cup of sugar with about 600ml water and 4 drops of red food coloring. Change the water out if it has leftovers ofter 4-5 days.

Try and hang the bottle near a tree or bush so the birds feel secure. Once the birds are used to you they will drink from the bottle while you hold it in your hand,(takes a bit of time though) The bottle is also used by White-eyes, weavers and bull bulls and is great next to a seed feeding platform.

Try to avoid hanging the bottle where it can cause damage from the dripping water, this happens as the bottle heats and cools from day to night.
