This cloisonné holy oil stock set likely originates from late 19th to early 20th century China or Taiwan, during a period of active Christian missionary presence in East Asia. The craftsmanship, featuring brass with a copper-tone overlay and vivid enamel work, reflects traditional Chinese cloisonné techniques adapted for Catholic liturgical use. Sets of this kind were used to hold sacred oils for baptism, confirmation, and anointing of the sick, and one identical example is on display at the Anping Catholic Museum in Tainan, Taiwan. The Chinese characters on each vessel (Vibrate), (Wash), and (Nanfu)highlight its ritual function and cultural intersection.
