Camu Camu fruit trees grow in the bushy riverside banks of the Amazon basin of Peru. Used for centuries by Native people, Camu Camu was harvested directly onto canoes. The fruit has recently been cultivated on a large scale and sold to world markets, with Japan being the largest consumer.
Camu Camu contains extremely high amounts of Vitamin C, the largest percentage in any fruit or vegetable on the planet. Camu Camu also contains important amino acids: Valine, Leucine and Serine. Camu Camu also has good quantities of potassium and different flavonoids (compounds with intense colour).
