A RAF fighter ace credited with the destruction of 32 enemy aircraft, South African born Adolf Malan joined the merchant navy in 1925 at the age of 15, hence his nickname gained on joining the RAF in 1935. Most significantly Sailor Malan developed the 10 basic rules for fighter combat, still taught to new RAF fighter pilots.
A reproduction set of pilot notes that the aircraft would have carried is also included.
