YOU ARE LOOKING AT AN EXTREMELY RARE POST CARD FROM THE SOUTH AFRICAN MILITARY CAMPAIGN OF 1914-1915 TO OCCUPY GERMAN SOUTH WEST AFRICA. THE EXTRACTS BELOW COME FROM "THE COMPREHENSIVE HANDBOOK OF THE POSTMARKS OF GERMAN SOUTH WEST AFRICA / SOUTH WEST AFRICA / NAMIBIA" BY THE LATE RALPH PUTZEL PUBLISHED IN 1991.

FROM THE WRITING ON THE BACK OF THE CARD, THE FOLLOWING CAN BE DETERMINED

1. IT WAS WRITTEN ON 15 APRIL 1915, LESS THAN 3 MONTHS BEFORE THE CAMPAIGN WAS BROUGHT TO A CLOSE ON 9 JULY 1915

2. IT WAS WRITTEN/POSTED FROM WALVIS BAY (LEFT EDGE OF POST CARD)

3. THE WRITER WAS ON "ACTIVE SERVICE" (TOP CENTRE OF POST CARD)

4. IT WAS "PASSED BY CENSOR" ON 18 APRIL 1915 (THE VALUE OF THE CENSOR CACHET IS INDEPENDENT OF THE VALUE OF THE POST MARK - READ BELOW)

5. THE POSTMARK IS ULTRA RARE (DUMB DATE STAMP 5a - READ BELOW)
