The photograph pictured in the image below is NOT included in the sale and is shown for information purposes only.
This stable belt belonged to Warrant Officer Haakman, who served in 202 Battalion. On the photograph AOII J. W. Olivier, can be seen wearing a stable belt like this. Warrant Officer Haakman, was at this stage still a Staff Sergeant (the soldier with the short pants in the photograph) and was issued with this stable belt when he became a Warrant Officer. This photograph is in our possession, but is NOT included in the sale. It is of 202 Battalion Kwartiermeester (Quarter Master) Rundu 1987. Although books state that the Rhino is the 101 Battalion beret badge, everybody in this photograph of 202 Battalion has a Rhino on their beret. It is interesting to note that more or less half of the soldiers has SWATF beret bars with the Rhino, and the rest have the South African Maintenance Unit beret bar. Four of the soldiers are wearing the 202 Battalion pocket flash.
(When talking to Warrant Officer Haakman, he confirmed that the Rhino was the beret badge worn by 202 Battalion, as can be seen in the photograph.)
