Swedish Midcentury modern bird vase by Paula von Freymann signed

Offered for sale is a stylish and unique , stoneware bird vase by Swedish art potter Paula Von Freymann. The vase is hand thrown and manipulated with a footed base and hand painted in an umber colour glaze on the foot ring and the  body of the vase suggesting the birds wing feathers/plumage. The vase is signed with the artist initials PVF , the date and marked Sweden. This item was made late in the artists career when she was self employed with her own studio  in Walmstedska Garden in Uppsala Sweden. She previously worked for Uppsala Ekeby, Steninge and Gustavsberg in the 1960's and established her own studio in 1973 .

Paula Von Freymann was born in Helsinki in 1930 and educated at the Stockholm College of Art and Royal Swedish Academy of Art. She started her career as an artist-designer  with Rorstrand in 1959 their youngest ever employee in this role.
