BLUE HOPI SWEETCORN

This unusual Sweet corn is robust, drought tolerant. It has been selected over many generations by the Hopi tribes people of the American South West. It takes on average 90 days to maturity. Plants grow to about 90 cm to 150 cm tall. Ears grow to about 25-30 cm long, usually 2 per stalk.
These can be picked during the early milk stage, the massive ears can be roasted or boiled, making excellent eating.

If you allow to fully mature and dry, this maize produces a sweet, high protein grain excellent for making tortillas and corn bread. Eating Meilie Meal Pap, home made from your own home grown Hopi Blue will leave you deeply satisfied. The kernels remain ivory coloured, until well dried, its then they develop their beautiful blue-black lustre.

The Sweetcorn on the plate was completely delicious! My husband said it was even better than many deserts, nothing beats your own home grown garden fresh produce.

Not GMO.  Grown without the use of chemical insectides, herbisides etc.  Grown and locally produced organically.  An heirloom variety
